About 3M Singapore

3M has been improving lives in Singapore for more than 50 years. Since its founding in 1966, 3M Singapore has grown from its humble beginnings with only 8 employees, to a company with more than 1,600 employees and established local capabilities to serve the needs of local, regional and global customers. 3M’s presence in Singapore includes two manufacturing plants at Woodlands and Tuas, an R&D Center at Woodlands, and a Customer Technical Center, laboratory and other supply chain and business operations based at Yishun.

The company serves diverse consumer and industrial industries and is a leader in many of these industries, which include electronics, chemicals, building and construction, transport engineering, health care, and consumer retail.

Built in 1998, the state-of-the-art 3M Singapore Woodlands Plant produces optically clear adhesives, Command™ hooks and strips, custom flexible circuits, sintered abrasives, electronic adhesives, surface mount supply carrier and cover tapes, abrasive belts for fine finishing applications, and converts clean sanding discs for automotive applications for customers throughout Asia, USA and Europe. The Woodlands Plant was one of the first existing industrial buildings in Singapore to be conferred the Green Mark Award (Gold) by the Building and Construction Authority in 2010. With its focus on manufacturing excellence and quality, the Woodlands Plant won the Singapore Manufacturing Excellence Award – Operational Excellence in 2007 and the Singapore Quality Award in 2003.

The vision of the 3M Singapore R&D Centre is to be a major growth driver and leader in new products and technology platforms. With growing research and development work in Singapore, 3M has established R&D centres at our Woodlands and Yishun sites.
The focus of the R&D Centre @ Woodlands is on multi-disciplinary research in the areas of smart urban solutions, electronics, optics, circuitry, adhesive and coatings. This enables 3M to leverage our 46 science-based technology platforms, as well as our vast analytical and weathering capabilities. This facility is able to provide predictive and material analysis for many different industries.
